We started our poodle journey about 4 years ago! I had always heard that a person shouldn’t go to a breeder that had multiple breeds for sale. Keeping this in mind, I had developed a love for yorkies and purchased a pair. I had first purchased one from a “breeder” in Illinois. I have to admit that at this time I hadn’t done much research but wanted a pure bred yorkie.
Like everyone of my dogs, we genetic test them. When we rec’d our “yorkie” I bought a optimal selection panel from Mars genoscoper. This is NOT a breed indicator test, but mainly for breeders to find what traits the pup carries, genetic ancestry and any breed-specific genetic diseases/disorders.
I had rec’d my optimal selection results I saw it said “mixed breed”. I thought this was a mistake - I phoned the company and was told the veterinarian would be in touch with me.
